Keynote I: How To Turn Sustainability Into Fun, and Fun Into Sustainability
Michel Smit, Energy Floors (NL)

How To Turn Sustainability Into Fun, and Fun Into Sustainability

Keynote

Energy Floors aims to engage as many people as possible in the global energy transition. But instead of telling people what to do, we involve them through interactive and fun experiences on our floors.
Whether it’s millennials at the hottest festival around, who will generate energy while they party. Or by installing solar powered interactive ‘Gamer’ playing fields in schoolyards. Energy Floors always creates positive energy that spark the minds of young and old and stimulate sustainable behavior.
To do so, we have put creation, innovation and gamification at the core of our organization. Our floors convert the energy from people and from the sun into electricity that can be used on the spot. They are smart, interactive and they make sustainability visible. So everyone who steps on them realizes that they too can have an impact.
A great feeling that we want to share with as many people as possible. We keep innovating by tapping into new sources of renewable energy that were ignored until now. So, dance, jump, play, walk, have fun and realize that together, we are making impact towards a better world.

That’s why we simply say: GET ON IT!

Keynote II: People-Centric Design for the Moshpit of 21st Century Mobility
Pamela Mead, Delivery Hero

People-Centric Design for the Moshpit of 21st Century Mobility
Keynote

People - the group not the individual - are not ready for the speed of change enabled by 4.0 solutions and technologies, including mobility solutions. We need to start now to change and evolve our thinking about solutions in terms of their impact on individuals and on society in general.
A recent article in the New York Times hilighted that the greatest challenge for the development of automation will be people. People’s behaviors are unpredictable and sometimes culturally influenced: in New York, jaywalking is a common practice. Imagine the potential gridlock when self-driving cars need to respond to pedestrians randomly crossing the streets or bicyclists zig-zagging between cars. The article itself has spawned a lively debate about the future of cities.
Conversations like these are relevant for all products and services that increasingly rely on smart technologies to operationally optimize experiences. There is an urgent need to broaden our focus, not only on people but also on technology’s impact on social dynamics and behaviors.
I do not presume to have the answer but want to propose tools, questions and some provocations to start the dialog. I want us to construct a practical and realistic approach to designing our future, taking into consideration context and local variations. If we start now, we can minimize the moshpit and make the next 30 years an experiment worth living in.

AI evolution and its relationship to games – and why it matters to SMCs

Artificial Intelligence Track

With the recently fast evolution of AI in solving increasing amount of problems new perspectives for the relationship of games and AI emerge. This relationship is manifold. Classic game AI creates the illusion of strong opponents or loyal companions, while new fields emerge, where games serve as testbeds for AI and Ai approaches support the development of games especially in the field of content generation. This talks looks at these different aspects, highlighting opportunities and risks for game-related SME.

eSports in Deutschland – Herausforderungen & Chancen
eSports Track

Visual Design and Artistic Productions with Machine Learning

Visual Design and Artistic Productions with Machine Learning
Artificial Intelligence Track

This presentation explains the practical applications of Machine Learning for visual representations and real time applications in digital environments. The experiences from the talent initiative "Art & Tech Lab" at Animationsinstitut of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg form the basis for an introduction to relevant processes and the use of so-called GANs, the possibilities of which go far beyond that of a "style transfer". In the further course, the cultural and educational impacts will be discussed, and the question will arise whether and how basic principles and a critique of AI can be conveyed by and through computer games. Gamification would be related here to critique, theory and knowledge transfer.

Ist eSport Sport? Antworten aus Theorie und Praxis
eSports Track

eSports Track

AI plays an important role in the context of Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems and Autonomous Driving (ADAS / AD). Among other important challenges, we need to teach the virtual driver to see and understand what happens around the vehicle - the perception problem . Informed by the perception system, the planning system determines the car’s next steps such as accelerate, slow down, go straight, make a turn, … . Once the virtual driver is trained to behave like a human driver - or better - another major challenge comes into play: How do we decide whether the virtual driver gets a driver’s license? - the validation problem . In his talk, Lars will demonstrate use cases in the context of self-driving cars and how they are being addressed.

Adding thrill to every ride - leveraging the power of immersion to create the future of in-car entertainment

Keynote

At holoride we are working on a technology that allows backseat passengers to experience an unseen way of entertainment in the car. We are using the car's real motion data and virtual reality headsets as a medium to create experiences that you can actually feel (like a rollercoaster, but even more realistic). In my talk I want to dig deeper into the concept of immersion and how we are using information of the real world around us to create fascinating virtual worlds. Furthermore I will touch the challenges we are facing on our way to build the leading digital plattform for immersive experiences and how people will experience virtual reality and mobility in the future.
